A NSW boat licence course from Maritime Training School will teach you everything you need to know to have fun and work on the water safely.
With Maritime Training School, you’ll have a fantastic day out on the water! The theory component of the boat licence course in Sydney will take place in one of our classrooms at Mosman or Sans Souci. The Mosman class is in Mosman Bay on the water front. Maritime Training School offers a pick up service for students in the Rose Bay at the Rose Bay Boat Ramp and Cabarita at d’Albora Marina. The Sans Souci class is at the St George Motor Boat club. For the practical components, you will board our 6.5m Brig Rib and put your classroom training into practice, whilst getting a great view of the harbour or on Kogarah Bay. We will then return to the classroom for a review before you take the NSW General Boat License online test.

How long does the boat licence course run in Sydney?
Do I get my boat licence on the day?
At the end of the course you get your completed application form. The form can be taken to a Transport for NSW (formally known as RMS or you can post it in to TfNSW.
Can I do the PWC course on the same day?
How many questions are in the exam?
For the general boat licence course in Sydney there are 50 multiple choice questions. For the PWC there are 15 multiple choice questions. For the boat licence you need to pass the 2 sections. Section 1 has 20 critical questions which you must score 100%. The second section has 30 questions and you must score a minimum of 24/30.
What if I fail the exam?
If you fail the first time, our seasoned trainers will explain any answers you got wrong and you can resit the exam. If you fail twice in the same day, you can resit the test again when the next course is run for no extra charge.
